About Precision Painting

Executive Summary

RV Painting

Precision Painting, Inc. was established in 1995 by Todd Hundt. Todd's vision for Precision Painting was to build a company grounded in values with a reputation for quality paint work. The company began operating in a modest facility located in Bremen, Indiana.

Over the next five years, Precision painted motorhomes for Damon Corporation and Newmar Corporation. The paint work on motorhomes in the early years consisted of a single color along the basement doors and some striping. Based on their reputation, Precision Painting partnered with Travel Supreme, Inc. in 2000 when customer demand shifted to full body paint. Travel Supreme was looking for a paint refinisher  that was capable of exceeding the industry standard for finish quality. Precision Painting, recognizing the potential for growth and the need for additional experience, added partners Dan Miller and Mike Leman to the company in 2001. Dan and Mike had previous experience with full body paint work at Newmar Corporation, already an established leader in the industry for full body paint work.

One year after the partnership was established the Company expanded the building and installed a downdraft spray and bake booth. The new paint booth allowed the motorhomes to be painted in a controlled environment and heat allowed the paint to cure faster and more consistently. Precision Painting's reputation continued to grow with its customer base requiring expansion of their facilities. The Second Street facility was land locked and had insufficient property for expansion. In March of 2003 Todd, Dan, and Mike purchased 15 acres on High Street to build a state of the art 35,000 square foot paint facility consisting of two additional downdraft spray and bake booths. In November of 2004, the new facility was opened for business. The current facility employs 70 full time paint related technicians consisting of paint prep, striping, base coating, clearing, buffing, and repair. Precision currently paints 2.5 motorhomes per day and 4 fifth wheels per week. Precision Painting also provides repair service for our clients at the High Street location as well as our customers facilities. Precision Painting continues to grow and they recently completed a new building dedicated to buffing and repair work. The new facility allows non-paint related procedures to be moved off of the production floor freeing up space for additional capacity production.

SERVICES

Precision Painting specializes in full body painting of RV related products. Precision Painting has focused on motorhomes, fifth wheels, and cargo trailers, but we have also painted school buses, cars, trucks, boats, fire trucks, motorcycles, and horse trailers. Precision Painting is a full service paint shop with six cells on the production floor: Prep, Base, Stripe, Clear, Buff, and Repair. All procedures are audited and we are in compliance with the paint manufacturers recommended standard operating procedures.

PREP - "Prep" is an abbreviation for preparation. This is the process where the unit is prepared for paint. Prep includes washing the unit, masking windows and areas not to be painted, sanding, scuffing, solvent washing for contaminants, and fixing imperfections in the substrate.

BASE - Base is the initial color that is sprayed on the unit. It also is where any primers or sealers that are required are also applied. This is typically the the background color. After this color is applied the unit is inspected for imperfections and repaired before going on to the next stage.

STRIPE - Stripe is the process where the design is laid out with a spray mask, Template, or tape. The mask is designed on a computer and cut by a plotter to ensure crisp and straight lines.

CLEAR - Clear is the process where the accent colors are sprayed and the gloss finish is applied.

BUFF - Buff is the process in which the clear coat is finely sanded and polished to give a high gloss reflection resembling a glass finish.

REPAIR - Repair is done after all the previous procedures are completed and the unit is inspected for any imperfections in the paint finish. Any areas that do not reach the customers quality standards and/or Precisions Paintings quality standards are repainted. Precision Painting has repair technicians in the facility and mobile technicians. The mobile technicians repair small blemishes that are incurred at the OEMs facility.

The name "Precision" describes our paint process. Every step of our process is to providing our customers with a precise and quality paint finish. Precision Painting is known throughout the industry as a high quality paint provider dedicated to customer satisfaction.
